Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) is a Free Economic Zone (FEZ) that was created in order to provide high-end healthcare facilities, medical teaching centers and investment opportunities to foreign investors and medical professionals. In 2002, DHCC was established by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with the main goal of the project being to develop medical tourism in Dubai, and make it an attractive place for visitors. The construction work was carried out by Tatweer, a subsidiary of Dubai Holding, and the district is currently under the control of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (DTMFZA).
In general, Dubai Healthcare City consists of two communities – the Medical Community and the Wellness Community, with a total area of 4,090,285 sq. ft. The first zone is home to medical centers, branches of global pharmaceutical companies and educational organizations. In the second zone, recreational services are centralized, as well as the development of the hotel business and retail trade. Thus, the district brings together a wide range of services in the fields of health care, medical equipment, education, research, pharmaceuticals and wellness, as well as providing related support through its strategic partnerships and adapts innovative concepts from all over the world in all of these areas. Additionally, within the framework of this mega-project, there are also commercial and residential complexes.
Real estate in Dubai Healthcare City consists of mainly low and mid-rise residential buildings with modern studios and 1-3-bedroom apartments. In most buildings, there is 24-hour security, a shared outdoor swimming pool, an indoor gym and terraces. Some of the apartments are full-furnished and ready to move in.
