Wasl Tower is a new residential complex located in Al Wasl, Dubai. The project was developed by Wasl Properties in partnership with architectural consultant UNStudio, a Dutch company. Construction started in 2015 and is still ongoing.
The 63-storey skyscraper has a distinctive winding asymmetric shape. It has been dubbed the ‘breathing tower’ because of the ceramic fins on its façade, which rhythmically reflect sunlight and create an effect of movement. The ceramic façade allows external noise to be suppressed and the temperature inside the building to be regulated, while the onsite gardens will increase the amount of oxygen.
The tower is located in the central part of the emirate on Sheikh Zayed Road, one of the city’s major highways. The area offers a well-developed infrastructure and a comfortable living environment.
Wasl Tower will have a total of 144 residential apartments located on the top floors of the building. It will also feature commercial spaces, offices, a museum of light and vertical gardens, and the Mandarin Oriental, a luxury hotel with 257 rooms that will occupy floors 16 through 38. The design of the building includes sports fields, retail outlets, restaurants, cafés, and exterior lighting for light shows.
Wasl Tower is located on Sheikh Zayed Road across the street from Coca-Cola Arena and Downtown Dubai. Mazaya Centre 1 bus stop, Mazaya Centre 1 grocery store, LIFE Pharmacy, Homes R Us, and Tesla can be found within a 10-minute walk of the tower.
For shopping, Geant Express and City Walk are located within a short distance of the complex, and the neighbourhood offers various retail pavilions, cafés, and a cinema. Residents can enjoy local restaurants, including Mandi’s Restaurant, New Castello, and Pipes Shisha Lounge and Cafe.
For medical services, Smart Salem Medical Fitness Centre and Valiant Clinic and Hospital are located within a 15-minute walk of the tower. Canadian University Dubai and a small park with a children’s playground can also be found within a 15-minute walk. Green Planet is situated within a five-minute drive and is home to a living rainforest with an abundance of birds and reptiles living under a glass dome.
Residents can take advantage of local nurseries and schools. British Berries Nursery, Salma Al Ansaria Elementary and Secondary School, and Al Safa High School can be reached within a 10-minute drive of the complex.
