About Mina Rashid

Spanning across 6.8 million sq.ft, Mina Rashid is a beautiful waterfront mega-development set in the historic area of Port Rashid. The vast project is a joint venture between Emaar and P&O Marinas, a subsidiary of DP World – UAE Region. To be more specific, Emaar is responsible for the actual development work, while P&O Marinas has provided the land plot and will continue to provide the berthing facilities and marinas

Port Rashid, the first commercial port of Dubai, opened back in 1972 and was named after Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. With a colossal area of 32 million sq.ft, the port offered 35 berths at the peak of its operations, 5 of which were capable of accommodating the biggest container ships at that time. However, in the 2000’s it was redeveloped as a cruise terminal, although it still has berths for commercial usage.

Inspired by Portofino, Monte Carlo and Porto Cervo, the upcoming AED 25B (USD 6.8B) project is set to combine a new marina with a Riviera-style waterfront residential area overlooking the Persian Gulf. There will be 7 districts with a selection of mid-rise apartments with promenades, alongside a Venetian-style shopping piazza. As well as this, the master plan includes hotels, high-end retail outlets, interconnected parks, art galleries, a theater, a museum and a 1,640 ft long palm tree-fringed canal, which will provide plenty of entertainment and leisure options for residents and visitors.

Location

Mina Rashid is situated within the Dubai Creek and between the prestigious Bur Dubai and Deira districts. Thus, it will provide easy access to some of the most popular waterfront communities, including Pearl Jumeirah, and commercial areas such as Downtown Dubai and DIFC, all set within a radius of 20 minutes from the complex. It will take approximately the same time to reach Dubai International Airport. There are no bus and metro stations in the immediate vicinity of the highly anticipated development yet, as the area is still under development.

Since the infrastructure of Mina Rashid is still under development, the nearest medical and academic institutions can be found a 10-minute drive away. These include, but are not restricted to:

  • Aster Hospital Mankhool
  • Al Refaa Health Center (MOHAP)
  • Iranian Hospital Dubai
  • New Academy School
  • Little Diamond Nursery – Al Raffa

Within 15 minutes of the development, residents will be able to reach 2 famous Dubai attractions: the Heritage Village and Al Shindagha Museum. The latter offers a unique multimedia experience that immerses visitors in all the changes of the Dubai Creek over the last couple of centuries. There are interactive videos, historic pictures and touch screens which display the rich culture of Emiratis. In addition, Al Shindagha Museum features the Perfume House, which tells the story of Emirati fragrances. The Heritage Village was created in 1977 and is where visitors can explore the old traditional life of the UAE.

Economic Appeal

Due for completion in Q3 2022, the Mina Rashid development is set to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global city and the premier cruise hub in the region. In fact, it houses Hamdan bin Mohammed Cruise Terminal, which is the world’s largest single covered cruise terminal capable of handling 14,000 passengers a day. From its launch in 2014 until 2020, the facility witnessed a 55% surge in receiving a large volume of cruise ships.

Moreover, Mina Rashid was awarded the Middle East’s Leading Cruise Port at the WTA 2021 for the 14th year in a row. With a capacity of handling 7 mega-cruise vessels, the port boasts an extensive range of quayside services, such as money exchange, a post office, shuttle service, concierge desk, luggage handling, medical assistance, tour operations, immigration and customs. In addition, passengers and visitors can use conference rooms, a business center, a dedicated vehicle parking facility and indulge in duty-free retail stores.

Attractions

The stunning centerpiece of Mina Rashid is the upcoming Dubai Mall by the Sea, the ultimate dining, retail and leisure destination. In addition, residents will have unlimited access to Dubai’s longest swimming pool, a sandy beach spread over 135.6 thousand sq.ft and a floating yacht club.

In addition, Mina Rashid houses the world-famous ocean liner Queen Elizabeth II (QE2), which was repurposed as a permanent floating hotel. There is also a museum with original art from the 1960’s and literature from the original library, as well as 10 unique fine eateries, lounges and event spaces.

As well as all the above, in October 2021, the world’s largest floating nightclub opened its doors on the QE2. Float Dubai contains a selection of high tables for up to 4 guests and larger booths with full views of the famous Dubai skyline and a central stage. Moreover, visitors will be treated with mouthwatering dishes of Latin and Pan-Asian cuisine.

The master plan of Mina Rashid includes a pedestrian bridge connected to the Saeed Al Maktoum House, with its own theater and museum. Saeed Al Maktoum House is a historic building and a former residence of Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, the previous ruler of Dubai. As one of the oldest museums in the city, it is home to artifacts and images telling the history of the Emirate. Among its highlights are colonial-era stamps, a courtyard, Wind Towers – Barjeel and many more.
