The development of the cultural economy in Abu Dhabi
The UAE capital focuses on the development of a cultural economy in order to attract more entrepreneurs and innovators to the city. Sustainable residential communities, theme parks and cultural spaces all help to support the economic development, and lead to the cultural prosperity of society in Abu Dhabi.
According to the new Cultural Heritage Law, the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi) will protect over 60 attractions, including their maintenance and renovation. It is part of Abu Dhabi’s mission to preserve the culture and identity of the destination, as stated by Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi. Among the protected sites are The National Theatre, the Arab Monetary Fund Building and Le Meridien Hotel, just to name a few.

Abu Dhabi Travel and Tourism Week (ADTTW) takes place in the emirate from the 25th to 28th September. A platform with 4 distinct conferences is created to attract more than 24 million visitors to the UAE capital, with the main goal of the event to strengthen the business and leisure tourism industries within the emirate.
Under the ADTTW umbrella, there are the City Tourism Briefing, Abu Dhabi Business Events Forum, the Abu Dhabi Wedding Show, and Future Hospitality Summit. The focus of these events is directed towards tourism management and policy, business events, destination marketing, weddings in tourist areas of the city, and investments in the hotel business.
