Abu Dhabi automated rapid transport
The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) announced the launch of the initial stage of the Automated Rapid Transit – ART project in the UAE capital. A new transport system with automated electric bus services provides 25 stations across the capital.
The tram-style electric vehicles will carry passengers on a 17mi route across the emirate. Each of the electric vehicles can carry up to 200 people, which will significantly increase the number of trips around the emirate.
During its pilot phase, the service is available from Friday to Sunday, and the electric buses will run from Al Reem Mall to Marina Mall, as well as pass along Corniche Street and Zayed the First Street.

The fully integrated infrastructure from ITC ensures the highest standards of comfort, quality and safety for its customers. The organisation plans to create a smart system of public transportation, which will expand mobility options for residents and visitors in the emirate.
The Automated Rapid Transit – ART project is part of the Smart Mobility Strategy in the UAE capital. The initiative is aimed at creating an efficient transport sector using the most advanced technologies, and the strategy also supports the transition to environment friendly and sustainable transport.
