About the area
Al Khawaneej is one of the farming areas of Dubai. The government has invested heavily in its development. It borders the Emirate of Sharjah at the intersection of Emirates Road and Maliha Road. The majority of Al Khawaneej’s population is made up of local agriculturalists. The main developer of the project is Meraas, a Dubai-based company famous for high-profile projects, such as City Walk and La Mer.
The area is divided into two communities: Al Khawaneej 1 and Al Khawaneej 2. Al Khawaneej 1 features a shopping and leisure complex, which includes a lake, the Last Exit food court, and the Yard entertainment area. Al Khawaneej 2 offers various farming and agricultural businesses, including animal nurseries, camel and horse stables, milk and juice producers, and an organic farm.
Al Khawaneej neighbours the areas of Oud Al Muteena, Al Mizhar, Mirdif, Mushrif, and Wadi Al Amardi. Villas and townhouses are available to buy and rent. The area also offers plots of land for construction projects.

The Yard by Meraas is part of the neighbourhood and is located near Al Khawaneej Street. It has a pond and is surrounded by a promenade with activities for children, as well as food outlets. A section of the community is reserved for the Last Exit food court, which features a collection of food trucks serving international cuisines. Quranic Park is located across the road from the Yard and covers an area of 60 hectares. It is dedicated to the Koran and combines cultural values and traditions of the Islamic religion. Visitors can also enjoy the Cave of Miracles.
Al Khawaneej Pond Park is located in the residential area but closer to the border of Sharjah. The park is a tranquil place where residents can relax and stroll along landscaped promenades lined with a variety of flowers and trees. The park offers several playgrounds, benches with awnings, grassy picnic fields, and parking.
