About the area

Al Khawaneej is one of the farming areas of Dubai. The government has invested heavily in its development. It borders the Emirate of Sharjah at the intersection of Emirates Road and Maliha Road. The majority of Al Khawaneej’s population is made up of local agriculturalists. The main developer of the project is Meraas, a Dubai-based company famous for high-profile projects, such as City Walk and La Mer.

The area is divided into two communities: Al Khawaneej 1 and Al Khawaneej 2. Al Khawaneej 1 features a shopping and leisure complex, which includes a lake, the Last Exit food court, and the Yard entertainment area. Al Khawaneej 2 offers various farming and agricultural businesses, including animal nurseries, camel and horse stables, milk and juice producers, and an organic farm.

Al Khawaneej neighbours the areas of Oud Al Muteena, Al Mizhar, Mirdif, Mushrif, and Wadi Al Amardi. Villas and townhouses are available to buy and rent. The area also offers plots of land for construction projects.

Infrastructure and Location

Al Khawaneej is located away from the hustle and bustle of the emirate. It practically borders the Sharjah Emirate and is situated near Emirates Road, which links the two emirates. The area offers a well-developed infrastructure, including:
