The Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has approved a housing and land package worth AED 6.3B (USD 1.7B) for 4,610 UAE citizens. According to the state-run news agency, Wam, the housing plan, which will be announced on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, will comprise 3,500 plots in the areas of Al Aweer and Umm Nahad 4. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also approved the construction of a new housing development with 1,100 residential villas in the Al Khawaneej 2 area.
These initiatives reflect the Sheikh’s desire to support Emiratis by strengthening family stability and providing them with a decent life in the country, according to the social welfare and quality of life system to which the UAE is committed to. The initiative to introduce a package of housing and land services is part of the Housing Programme for Dubai Citizens; the main goal of which is to continue the development and urban strategy of the emirate, as well as turning Dubai into the best city to live and work in the world. In 2021, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also allocated funds to the amount of AED 65B (USD 17.96B) for a housing programme for Emiratis in Dubai, and plans to spend this budget in the next 20 years to provide the Emirati people with high-quality housing.
The Ruler of Dubai issued a decree to increase 4 times the number of citizens who use the housing programme, which comes into force next year. In addition, the number of land plots allocated for Emirati housing projects in the emirate of Dubai will be increased to 1.7 billion sq. ft, which will satisfy the demand for housing from citizens over the next 20 years.
The Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan is a future map of sustainable urban development in the emirate, which aims to increase the level of happiness, as well as the quality of life of people, in accordance with the vision of the UAE government for the next 50 years. The plan will strengthen Dubai’s competitiveness as a global tourism destination by providing a wide range of lifestyle and investment opportunities for citizens and residents, as well as visitors over the next 20 years. The strategy is people-centric and aims to ensure the highest standards of urban infrastructure and amenities, which will realize the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid to transform Dubai into a city with the best quality of life in the world.
