Ohana Development announced on 12 October that Manchester City striker Erling Haaland had purchased a five-bedroom villa for his family at Manchester City Yas Residences in Abu Dhabi. The announcement came during the launch of the development's second phase at Etihad Arena, where Pep Guardiola was named the project's official brand ambassador. Phase 2 sales are scheduled to open on 19 October 2026.
Haaland announced his purchase in a video message during the event. Guardiola addressed guests on stage and spoke about discipline, resilience, teamwork and the importance of recovery and wellbeing alongside training. He said the community's focus on sport and wellness was a key attraction for him. More than 4,000 guests attended, including government officials, brokers and industry partners. Alfie Haaland, Erling's father and a former Manchester City player, also attended and collected the keys to his new home in the community.
Manchester City Yas Residences is the world's first Manchester City-branded residential community. It is located on Yas Canal, adjacent to Yas Island, and covers 1.67 million square metres. The masterplan centres on Manchester City Park and the Manchester City Sports Clubhouse. The community also plans a Manchester City training academy, fitness facilities and recovery spaces for hydrotherapy, cryotherapy, oxygen therapy and mindfulness.
On 25 September, Ohana held the groundbreaking ceremony for the development, valued at AED 15 billion, and opened an Experience Centre for the project, where prospective buyers can view the masterplan, residences and finishes. Attendees included Ferran Soriano, CEO of City Football Group, and Sultan Al Memari of the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre (ADREC).
Ohana reported in March that Phase 1 recorded AED 6 billion in sales within 72 hours, which it described as a new sales record for Abu Dhabi's real estate market. Phase 2 follows with townhouses, duplex villas and villas. Two-bedroom townhouses have an average price of AED 3.75 million. Ohana plans to deliver the development in phases by 2029.
