100 days to go: get ready for EXPO 2020 in Dubai

At the time of publication of this article, 88 days remain until EXPO-2020.

The countdown to the launch of EXPO 2020, postponed due to the global pandemic, has begun in Dubai.

The most anticipated event of the last two years, EXPO 2020 will be here in less than 100 days. The ‘world’s greatest show’ was initially due to be held in Dubai back in 2020, but due to COVID-19, its opening was postponed to the fall of 2021. Now, there are only 100 days left until its grand opening set for 1 October 2021. The world event will last for 182 days until 31 March 2022.

EXPO 2020 will encourage an attitude of cooperation and innovation to foster real-life solutions as the world moves towards a post-COVID economic rehabilitation. According to recent forecasts, the exhibition will attract more than 25 million visitors during the 6 months with the share of foreign visitors predicted to be 70% which will be a record figure in the history of world exhibitions.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, started an official countdown by sharing a post on his Twitter account on 23 June.

The size of the EXPO 2020 exhibition сenter is equal to the area of 400 football fields. Within the grounds of the site over 50,000 workers will set up 192 pavilions for partaking countries.

EXPO 2020 is a pioneer in the market of post-pandemic exhibitions with millions of visitors from all over the world due to visit the region. To guarantee their safety, organizers will resort to innovation. For example, there will be wearable gadgets, invented in Belgium, that will emit a sound signal when social distance is violated.

To avoid a possible surge of coronavirus itself during the event, the organizers will undertake high-tech solutions and innovations, but they will also offer COVID-19 vaccines to all official representatives of the countries participating in EXPO 2020. Currently, more than 75% of UAE residents have had their vaccines. On 22 June, Abu Dhabi reported that they would offer Pfizer and Sinopharm vaccines to tourists coming into the capital. Sinopharm has been tested in the Emirate and will be produced on-site.
