The Oman Real Estate Association has launched a new online platform as the Sultanate's property sector moves towards greater digitalisation. The platform was presented at the Real Estate Innovation and Artificial Intelligence Forum in Muscat on 25 August, where the association also signed several cooperation agreements focused on technology and the development of real estate services.
The initiative comes during a period of stronger activity in Oman's property market. Government data shows that the value of real estate transactions increased during the first half of 2026, while residential property prices also recorded substantial annual growth.
Property Transactions Reach RO 1.43 Billion
The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) recorded RO 1.43 billion (USD 3.72 billion) in real estate transactions during H1 2026, up 5.4% from the same period in 2025. The value of sales contracts increased 12.2% to RO 688 million (USD 1.79 billion), while the number of transactions rose 6.9% to 34,017.
Mortgage activity also increased in volume. The number of mortgage contracts rose 25.7% to 13,383, although their combined value edged down 0.3% to RO 740.2 million (USD 1.92 billion).
| Metric | H1 2026 (RO) | USD Equivalent | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total transaction value | RO 1.43 billion | ~USD 3.72 billion | +5.4% YoY |
| Sales contract value | RO 688 million | ~USD 1.79 billion | +12.2% YoY |

| Mortgage contracts | 13,383 | — | +25.7% YoY |
Residential Prices Rise, Led by Land
Residential prices also recorded strong annual growth in Q1 2026. NCSI's residential property price index increased 17.6% year on year, compared with 15.9% for the overall real estate price index.
The increase was driven largely by land values. Residential land prices rose 21%, while villa prices increased 9% and apartment prices grew 4.4%. Muscat recorded the strongest increase in residential land prices among Oman's governorates, at 43.6% year on year.
The figures point to a market where land is experiencing considerably stronger price growth than completed residential properties.
Digitalisation Becomes Part of the Market Reform
The association's new platform forms part of a wider move to modernise Oman's real estate infrastructure. In May 2026, Royal Decree No. 56/2026 introduced a new Real Estate Registry Law, replacing the previous framework and supporting the digitisation of property registration and related services. The new law also provides a legal framework for electronic property records and documents, helping move registration and related transactions further into the digital environment.
